Across the world, Lgbtq+ fest remains a protest, a salient act of resistance uniting lesbian, gay, fluid, transgender, intersex, and lgbtq+ (LGBTIQ) people. As socio-cultural and political contexts evolve, Pride and LGBTIQ awareness events celebrate resilience, progress, and courage, and they showcase the persistence of LGBTIQ communities in constructing liberating alternatives enforced cisheternormativity.
Outright International identified UN member states worldwide where Parade and other LGBTIQ representation events were held in , with at least 61 of these holding Pride events both within and outside the capital city. These events aim at resisting state-sanctioned homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and intersexphobia, building public awareness about LGBTIQ populations through the reaffirmation of the life of diversity, building society and collaboration within LGBTIQ populations, and celebrating gains. Pride doesn’t always obtain the form of marches or parades; it has evolved to include festivals, performances, social events, push conferences, and more.

The LGBTQ+ rights movement has made tremendous strides over the past several decades and much of the progress in awareness is thanks in part to gay pride parades and marches that possess taken place in cities around the world.
The global landscape for LGBTQ+ rights, protections and acceptance varies tremendously by location, with some destinations attracting millions of visitors to their events like Madrid Queer Pride, Sao Paulo Lgbtq+ Pride or San Francisco Gay Pride, while more than 70 other countries have laws that let discrimination or persecution of LGBTQ+ people.

Pride is coming to Guildford!

Pride in Surrey are excited to proclaim that this year’s Parade event will be taking place in Stoke Park, Guildford on Saturday 21st September. This year marks the fifth anniversary since Pride in Surrey’s very first Pride event in Woking back in Self-acceptance has come a elongated way in last five years, bringing annual events around the county, growing the event with every town visited. It's an exciting opportunity to convey the LGBTQ+ event to Guildford town for the first time. Pride in Surrey were in a fortunate position to be able to open a bidding process for the first time this year, after receiving a number of requests from other councils to bring Lgbtq+ fest in Surrey to their towns. Charlie Watts, Leader Executive: "After much deliberation, we have decided that Guildford would be a great fit for our event. Pride in Surrey would like to appreciate all the councils who reached out to place themselves forward to host our event. I am so thrilled that we will be bringing Celebration in Surrey to Guildford this year. It is a truly wonderful town and Stoke Park will make for a pretty location for our event.
