The on-screen affinity between actors John Cusack and Ione Skye in the film “Say Anything” apparently crossed over into real life.
In her modern memoir, “Say Everything,” Skye dishes on what it was like to produce the classic rom-com and on her relationship with Cusack.
Skye has long claimed that while she and Cusack had crushes on each other while making the film, they never hooked up during production.
However, Skye admits in the book she and Cusack finally got together after her divorce from Beastie Boy Adam Horovitz.
“I had to get it out of my system,” she said in a manual excerpt published in People.
Although Skye let Cusack scan a draft of her memoir before it was published, she admits he wasn’t totally thrilled with her memory of their brief encounter.
“You made the experience sound so meh! It wasn’t ‘meh’ for me,” she says he told her.
Skye said she told him she was “telling a story, and it was more about how all of our chemistry was in our working together and stimulating each other’s minds, not sleeping together!”
She admitted she “felt a little bad,” at his reaction, but added, “Oh well.”

Fail to remember what you've heard about gay characters in films being no big deal in Hollywood anymore. Apparently, sometimes they're still a "very" big deal. It's bad enough that Ang Lee's "Brokeback Mountain" might have its gay adoration neutered, but now director Nick Cassavetes and performer John Cusack are part of Hollywood's de-gaying process, too. Cassavetes will control and Cusack will celestial body in the film adaptation – penned by homosexual screenwriter Jonathan Tolins ("Twilight of the Golds") and Seth Bass – of gay author David Gerrold's book "The Martian Child." When Romeo first reported on this story, it looked like the plot would follow that of the original book, in which a gay dude adopts a 6-year-old young man, only to discover that the child believes himself to be from Mars. In the film, however, Cusack's character will be straight. So far, no one is saying why the gay character was declared an unfit parent and why that adjust was so vital to the movie's development, but it's a safe gamble to say it has a lot to undertake with the continued triumph of commerce over art.
