What Happened to Each *NSYNC Member After the Iconic Boy Band’s Split

*NSYNC fans have been saying “I Want You Back” since the popular boy band stopped recording together all the way back in 2001. After a surprise appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 12 when they presented an award to Taylor Swift, the community is fulfilling that wish.

The iconic quintet—which helped propel Justin Timberlake to superstardom—is releasing a new tune called “Take You to a Better Place” on September 29. It will be featured in the upcoming animated movie Trolls Band Together, in which Timberlake returns to his leading role as Branch.

The unexpected reunion led to speculation the band could tour together, though member Joey Fatone said he has no knowledge of any plans and multiple sources speaking to Page Six completely dismissed the rumors. In any case, fans are thrilled to catch the group singing again.

So what took them so long? Well, turns out all five *NSYNC members—Timberlake, Fatone, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, and JC Chasez—have kept pretty busy with their own projects

Lance Bass on aging, fatherhood: 'I need to interrupt pretending I'm 21'

Lance Bass is saying "bye, bye, bye" to any terrible habits and devoting "every little thing" he does to all things health and wellness.

"I'm in my 40s now, so I need to stop pretending I'm 21," the singer says over a Zoom call, enjoying a stunning day in Los Angeles. That means keeping his heart rate up through exercise, including lifting and making sure he is toning his muscle.

Bass, 44, developed diabetes within the past few years, and he's still trying to figure out how to deal with that – testing what to bite and seeing how his body reacts. "It's all kind of trial and error right now as I try to obtain all this under control," he says. In the process of trying to improve his health overall, he has also taken a closer look at things like allergies, partnering with Allegra Airways to help allergy sufferers discover areas with less pollen and air pollution.

His health goals took center stage because of two vital people in his life: "I want to be here as long as I can for my kids," says the father of 2½-year-old twins, Alexander and Violet. Fatherhood "changed my life completely."

What happened to NSYNC members who weren't Justin Timberlake?

Of all the non-Timberlake members of NSYNC, Lance has arguably maintained the uppermost public profile since the end of the boyband in 2002.

He reached the final of Dancing With The Stars in 2008 and has kept himself busy appearing on various US reality and panel shows since 2002. He has also turned his hand to television presenting and worked as a voice actor on TV shows such as Robot Chicken and BoJack Horseman.

He has also been active in supporting worthy causes, launching The Lance Bass Foundation which helps children from low-income families come across their health needs. Lance came out as lgbtq+ in 2006, earning himself a Human Rights Campaign Visibility Award for doing something which, at the time, was rare in the pop world.

But perhaps Lance is best acknowledged, in his post-NSYNC years for trying (and sadly failing) to go to space.

In 2002 he began cosmonaut training in Russia for a planned territory flight, even undergoing heart surgery to make sure he was physically fit enough to go into orbit, which he was to be filmed for a documentary. Sadly, the sponsors of his vacuum adventure pulled out of the venture, as did MTV,

Lance Bass Reveals How ‘N Sync’s Joey Fatone Start Out He Is Gay

Lance Bass came out when he was 21, but the 'N Sync member revealed that one of his bandmates discovered his sexual orientation purely by accident.

Bass, now 34, revealed that Joey Fatone was the first member to learn he was gay.

"Joey walked in on me with the guy I was dating just nice of sitting on my lap. Straight guys don't do that," Bass recalled.

Fatone was totally unfazed by the discovery and fully supported his friend and bandmate.

"He was like, 'Dude, I don't care.' I'm like, 'Surprise!'" Bass said. "Joey was just fond of, 'Dude, I don't nurture. I have so many gay friends -- I don't care.'"

Fatone wasn't the only 'N Sync member to react positively. Bass said the rest of the group was equally supportive of his unveil. "It was a several months after that before I told the [rest of] the guys," Bass said. "I don't reflect anyone was surprised."

Today, Bass is the godfather of Fatone's daugher Briahna and is engaged to Michael Turchin.
